Experiences to live in Mizujo, free field A Creole farm with a Japanese spirit

OUTINGS & EXPERIENCES

In the 1970s, a Japanese family arrived in Argentina and settled in Colonia Urquiza, a few kilometers from the city of La Plata. For many years they cultivated the land, and over time the dream of opening a place for contact with nature and mini rural tourism. In 2005, the doors of the property were opened to the public. Today, 15 years after its inauguration, that family defines Mizujo as "a Creole farm with a Japanese spirit", and their dream is our reality on Sundays.
The place
The koi carp inside the pond, fish that we know well thanks to the Japanese Garden, are just an introduction to this 4-hectare biopark, which includes a labyrinth, a farm, a cactus, an orchid garden and outdoor games and a large number of picnic tables in the shade. Outside the premises, an organic greengrocer and a nursery satisfy our hunger for shopping.
The farm
The rabbits already know and come closer: the boys bring sticks of carrots. They are obtained at the entrance of the property (at a high price, but they are well worth the experience!). The tour continues through the pens: goats, sheep, ponies, pigs, dairy cows, poultry and even llamas surprise city boys and girls. There is never a shortage of cats on the loose looking for photos and cuddles, peacocks walking alongside visitors, and ducks looking to see if they can get a bite. Then, to have a picnic among the little birds!
The cactus and the orchid
Many images of cacti, succulents, monsteras and orchids they can be seen on Instagram, but in Mizujo they smell, prick and attract butterflies. The Japan-Argentina cultural exchange throbs inside these greenhouses.
The games
"Driver, driver, start that engine, we're dying of heat in this coffee pot!" An archaeological relic in sight: a group of those that no longer circulate on the Buenos Aires Metrobus, and that sometimes gave us a capicúa ticket.
Boys and girls can play chauffeur and take the whole family for a ride. Of course it doesn't work, but it doesn't matter because they can also visit a motor home or a plane...
From there, to the games with bridges and wooden slides, outdoor showers to cool off with your clothes on, miniature houses to play in the neighborhood and say hello from the window. Hours of outdoor fun guaranteed.
The labyrinth, the exit and the nursery
It's time to close up and run one last time through the paths of the Mizujo labyrinth: maybe they'll take us once more to the farm, to see if the pig woke up or if some guinea pig wants a snack, or maybe they'll take us to the nursery. There is a succulent looking at us wanting to live in our apartment.
In conclusion
We discovered that Japan was a few kilometers from home, that half an hour from the City of Buenos Aires there was so much fauna and flora for so many butterflies, that we could rest in the shade while we watched the children play.
